The Florence County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is activated during large-scale emergencies or special events. The EOC is the central location for officials from municipal, state, and federal agencies as well as private entities for coordination and executive decision making in support of incident response and recovery operations, and gather and disseminate information. During larger emergencies, the Joint Information Center (JIC) located in the EOC works to draft and disseminate information to the public. The EOC is also the central point for allocation and deployment of resources to support response and recovery efforts, such as vehicles, heavy equipment, fuel, and other emergency supplies.

Since our area is susceptible to hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, winter storms and more, we want to encourage the need for everyone - families, businesses, agencies, and institutions - to be prepared if and when these disasters strike. Florence County Emergency Management would like for you to take this time to get prepared. When disaster is imminent and is happening, it is not the time to think "What should I do?" Being prepared means you are ready to protect your family and property when a disaster occurs. It means you have previously thought out what to do, where to go, what to bring and how to get there.
